What is the name of this cement or concrete block?

There is a large cement or concrete block that when laying down looks like a giant piece of sliced sandwich bread. It is open in the middle like someone must have scooped all of the soft part of the bread out. I guess you use it as a planter of they could be staked on top of each other to form a post.

Can anyone tell me the name of this block and about how much it cost?

It sounds like you are describing a chimney flue block. They are made in several different sizes and patterns. They are stacked together, usually with a clay or ceramic liner to build fireplace chimneys. I don't know the price of one but it's easy enough to ask your supplier once you know what to call it.
Reply:It's called a cinder block and is pretty much the cheapest form of concrete construction you can get
